Have a copy of all of the details of the accident or loss within reach so we can get all of the facts right the first time. We need to know the time, date, where it happened, what happened, how it happened, what resulted.

Think it is too late in the day to call? Absolutely not! Call the 24-hour toll-free 1-800 line of the company you are insured with. Then call us early the next day.
Once the insurance claim information is received, you will receive a claim number from your insurer. Copy that number down. You will need it for future reference, every time you call, email, write, or go online to find out about the status of your insurance claim. If the claim is significant, or if you are reporting lots of damage, such as a car totaled, or a house demolished by fire, an insurance claims adjuster will be sent to the site of the accident to review the damages, before awarding you a specific amount of money.
Remember, you will need that claim number, whether it is a homeowner's insurance claim, an auto insurance claim, or a property insurance claim.
