Term life insurance is offered and guaranteed for a certain amount of years - typically for 10, 15, 20, or 30 years. The minimum amount of term life insurance coverage starts at $100,000, and goes up in increments of $10,000. Term insurance is more widely bought, because it is much less expensive than whole life insurance policies.
Whole life insurance policies (which are in effect until the person dies,) are usually more expensive than term policies. It should be noted that usually during the first five years of most term life insurance policies, they can be converted to whole life insurance policies, usually without a medical exam or a physician’s certificate.
